We sat down with Justin Wolpert, a man of refined tastes.
From bold wines to the perfect chip, he's your go-to for elevating any social event.

Urban Dor: Tell us about what you like about the Greater Hartford Jewish community and when did you first hear about Urban Dor?
Justin: I first heard about Urban Dor through social media. I was looking to get more involved in the Jewish community and what better way than to go to a young professionals event. The community has been incredibly welcoming. The young professional group in the community has not only been welcoming but it is filled with highly motivated professionals that are great to spend time with.
Urban Dor: We heard you have a taste for wine and can even guess correctly the type of wine blindfolded, how did you develop this impressive skill and what advice do you have for us novices to get started?
Justin: Like many Jews my introduction to wine was Manischewitz. As I got older I became more interested in wines from all around the world and their different flavor profiles. I particularly love red wines from the USA, Italy and France. In addition I like Israeli wines, it is quality wine that allows me to feel like I’m supporting Israeli businesses from halfway across the world.
Urban Dor: What do you do professionally?
Justin: I am a Sales Manager for PepsiCo. I specifically work for Frito Lay which is a subsidiary of PepsiCo. I oversee a team that stocks your favorite snacks on store shelves. Some of my favorite products are garden salsa SunChips, BBQ Doritos and Siete Lime Tortilla chips.
Urban Dor: We rarely dip into politics here, though the documentary, October 8, was an important and historic film that Urban Dor helped promote for the young Jewish adult community to see in theaters. You joined us and found the documentary impactful, please share with us your thoughts on the film.
Justin: I was very grateful that I had the opportunity to see this film, I saw many faces that I have followed throughout the war. I thought the film was incredibly well made and dove into some very important topics and gave us a timeline on how we got to where we are today. I believe this film will serve as the historical record for our future children or those who were too young to remember this time.
Urban Dor: How can folks connect with you further to chat about Israel, business, and wine?
Justin: People can connect with me at an Urban Dor event or reach out to me via email at justinwolpert@gmail.com.
Urban Dor's next event is Sunday, June 22nd 2025, for it's annual Summer Schmooze in Bloomfield, CT. Ticket details here.
