Urban Dor: What do you both like most about being part of the Greater Hartford Jewish community?

We love how welcoming and friendly everyone has been since we moved here. We love meeting people from all different religious backgrounds, which is a very special and unique quality about West Hartford.

Urban Dor: When did you first hear about Urban Dor and what was your first event?

Jeremy’s first event was the annual wine and cheese in March of 2024.  He heard about the event through people in the community. Jeremy told Sarah about the fun he had and her first event was the Latka Voldka 100 event in December 2025.

Urban Dor: Tell us a little about your careers. What do you each enjoy most about the work you do?

Sarah has a doctorate in nursing practice and is a certified pediatric nurse practitioner. She works with children of all ages whether it is just for a healthy check up or if they are feeling sick. She loves helping make sick kids feel better and being a part of families lives.

Jeremy is a mechanical engineer at a small aerospace company.  He loves that every day is something different and the ability to work on diverse and cool projects.

Urban Dor: Sarah, what was it like growing up in such a thrilling outdoor culture in Denver? We heard there is a huge Jewish community there too!

I loved growing up in Denver! There is always something to do no matter the season like skiing, white water rafting or hiking. The Jewish community in Denver is actually very large and growing every day.  It really was a great place to live.

Urban Dor: Jeremy, you grew up near Chi-Town (AKA Chicago), do you miss the big city life?

I miss aspects of Chicago like the kosher restaurants and catching a ball game at Wrigley Field

Urban Dor: When you both catch a day off, what do you love doing together in Connecticut?

While we rarely get free time, when we do, we love finding new areas of the state to explore. Whether it’s to see a cool landmark, go fishing or go on a hike.

Urban Dor: If people want to connect with you or learn more about what you’re doing, what’s the best way to reach you?

You can reach us both at: s.j.sweer@gmail.com.
